Alaska Medallions - About Us

Alaskamedallions.com is the website of The Alaska Medallion, an annual newsletter put out by Pat and Brad Mohre. For twelve years The Mohre’s owned and operated Poker Creek Gold on Creek Street in Ketchikan Alaska. They also owned Sam McGee’s and Dan McGrew’s, two other favorite Creek Street Shops.

Before moving to Ketchikan, Pat and Brad made their home in the Fortymile region of Interior Alaska. There they made a living mining gold, and in general experiencing life’s adventures in the remote Alaskan bush.

Through the years a large number of summer visitors have purchased Alaska Medallions at Poker Creek Gold, and signed up for the newsletter in order to be kept up to date on final mintage numbers, new issues, and current medallion values. It is the intent of this website to offer that service to an expanded audience.
