Chad Harpel of Eagle River Alaska submitted the winning drawing. The medallion is a soaring bald eagle with Mt. Denali in the background. It should be in production as the State Medallion by early November.
The one-ounce Official Alaska State Medallion Proof should be the first medallion in any Alaska collection. It is made of .999 fine silver mined in the State of Alaska. Each medallion is rim stamped with an individual serial number and production is limited to demand through 2011. They come encased in an air tight holder with a velvet presentation box and information card. A Bald Eagle/Mt. Denali information sheet comes with each medallion.
2011 Denali Eagle Gold Relief
If you like a little glitter to your medallions, the gold relief is the medallion for you. The eagle and the rim edge are layered with a thin 24k plate. Like the plain one ounce silver pieces, these medallions are individually serial numbered and are limited in edition. The two ounce State Medallion offers GREAT detail. Each medallion is individually serial numbered, limited to demand through 2010, and is presented in an Airtight holder. The heft of these two ounce medallions feels very nice! Generally, well under 200 two ounce medallions are struck each year. If you are looking for an Alaskan keepsake to put on display the two ounce is unbeatable!

The Silver Proof Set consists of a 1 ounce, 1/2 ounce, 1/4 ounce, 1/10 and a 1/20 ounce, all proof, in a handsome velvet case enabling viewing of both sides of the medallions. The book set comes with an information/authenticity card signed by the Governor of the State.
